Rezin: Failed Economic Leadership in Springfield Catalyst for Moody’s Bond Downgrade
Morris…Republican candidate for State Representative of the 75th District Sue Rezin stated Moody’s latest downgrade of Illinois’ bond rating is testament to years of failed economic leadership by elected officials in state government.
“Last month lawmakers fled Springfield after approving an unbalanced budget with a shortfall of $4 billion dollars. This spending deficit is compounded by a backlog of $6 billion dollars in unpaid bills and $54 billion dollars in unfunded pension liabilities,” Rezin said.
Rezin continued, “Our state’s fiscal health is anemic and taxpayers simply cannot endure anymore.”
Moody’s Investors Service recently lowered Illinois’ general obligation bond rating from Aa3 to A1.
“Year after year of one-time budget gimmicks, expensive borrowing schemes and reckless state spending have finally caught up to irresponsible lawmakers,” Rezin said.
“Serving as your State Representative, I will bring common sense leadership and values to our broken legislature,” Rezin said. “I believe conservative spending, demanding accountability and honesty in government, and creating jobs by holding the line on taxes are a few common sense reforms to get Illinois back on track.”

Sue Rezin Statement on Governor Quinn’s Plan to Cut Lawmaker Salaries
Morris…Republican candidate for State Representative in 75th District, Sue Rezin, supports Governor Quinn in his effort to cut lawmaker’s salaries in order to balance the budget.
“Governor Quinn and I don’t agree on many issues, but I support his effort to reduce the salaries of Springfield lawmakers,” said Rezin. “Elected officials in Springfield don’t have the courage to cut wasteful spending or pass a balanced budget, why should they get paid for failing at their job?”

Rezin Opposes Relocation of Guantanamo Bay Terror Prisoners to Thomson Prison
Republican candidate for State Representative of the 75th district Sue Rezin spoke out today against the Obama administration and Democrat Governor Pat Quinn’s recent plans to relocate Guantanamo Bay terrorist operatives to Thomson Correctional Facility in western Illinois.
“Terrorist suspects should remain in Guantanamo Bay and not move to Thomson’s prison in rural Illinois,” Rezin said. “Relocating foreign-born and captured terrorists to U.S. soil could lead to civilian prosecutions in Rockford or Chicago.”
Calling the move irresponsible, Rezin followed suit by signing a letter of opposition circulated by Congressman Mark Kirk, which will be forwarded to President Obama.
“Government must stop prioritizing campaign pledges over homeland security,” Sue Rezin said.
Rezin cited the recent Chicago Tribune article citing the mixed reactions by federal lawmakers to the proposal.
Democrats Block Forensic Audit
Reform Proposal Halted; House Dems Vote “No”
SPRINGFIELD– Moments after Illinois legislators voted to borrow over $4 billion to fuel for more government spending, State Representative Careen Gordon voted against a critical reform measure, the Illinois Forensic Audit Act, which would have required a line-by-line review of how each taxpayer dollar is spent.
The Illinois Forensic Audit Act, HR 1057, would have authorized the Illinois Auditor General to conduct a comprehensive review of state spending and state contracts to identify areas of waste, fraud and mismanagement.
However, Democrats, including Representative Gordon, objected to the measure and refused to allow the bill to come before the House for a vote.
Sue Rezin (R-Morris), the Republican nominee for the 75rd District seat, reacted to the blatantly political maneuver and its impact on Illinois’ glaring lack of reform and accountability.
“Illinois currently has a budget deficit of $13 billion, the Democrat leaders in this State need to talk about eliminating wasteful spending, not raising taxes on our families,” Rezin said. “Illinois leadership has failed its citizens for far too long, it’s time for a clean break from these flawed fiscal policies.”
“The fiscal crisis facing Illinois is due to the legislature’s overspending, over-borrowing and overtaxing. That’s why it was so disappointing to see Representative Gordon oppose a forensic audit of state spending. It demonstrates a lack of commitment by Representative Gordon to root out the waste, fraud and corruption in state government,” This was a conscious decision to vote against spending reforms and more transparency in government and vote for continuing business-as-usual politics that has broken our state,” said Adam Andrzejewski, author of the Illinois Forensic Audit Act.
